The 2011 Annual General Meeting was held at County
Lawn Tennis Club, Weston Favell, NN3 3BX on Monday 14th
November 2011 at 7.30pm At the Wilson Northampton Lawn
Tennis League AGM on 14th November 2011 attendees debated the change to Player
Eligibility rule 11 (b). No vote
was taken but clubs were invited to discuss the options listed below, with their
respective club captains and then vote on one option which will stand for 3
years, starting with the Summer League 2012. Winter League rules will change the
following Winter. Clubs have up to 2 votes providing
two members of that club were present and signed-in at the AGM. Votes should be
returned to the NLTL secretary Mark Beasley via email to secretary@nltl.co.uk

Rules 11. Player Eligibility: In any given branch of the
League (Mens / Ladies / Mixed) NO PLAYER MAY, within one season: a) Represent more than one
club. b)

RESTRICTION DOES NOT APPLY IN THE MIXED LEAGUE. c) *Exceed the match quotas
- as defined as: either 10 matches or the quota for the teams in the division in
which he / she most frequently plays - whichever is the greater. d) * Play against any
opposing team more than: 1) ONCE in divisions where
the teams only meet once. ii) TWICE in divisions where
teams meet twice. iii) 3 TIMES in divisions
where teams meet 3 times *Note: An event conceded in
a couple’s favour must count towards their quota - but abandoned matches,
play-offs and ineligible appearances do not count. Result of ballot on one of the following options for Rule 11b. Closing date
was midnight on 30th
November 2011 OPTION
1 – The rule that applied this summer 2011 ( Once a player has played 3 times
for a higher TEAM that player cannot then play for a lower TEAM ) OPTION
2 – The rule that applied in 2010 ( Once a player has played 3 times in a
higher DIVISION that player cannot play in a lower DIVISION ) OPTION
3 – The rule that applied in 2009 ( No player may play more than one team
below the highest team played for, irrespective of divisions ) i.e.
If
a player starts the season in the C team that player can subsequently play for
the A, B or D teams but not the E team. However,
once that player has played once for the higher B team then they are only
eligible for the B or C teams later in the season. Likewise if the player plays
one match in the A team, from that time on they are only eligible to play in the
A or B team for the rest of that season.
i.e. during the season upward movement is not restricted but players are
then only eligible subsequently for one team below the highest team they have
played for. Option 1 chosen (16 votes), Option 2 (9
votes), Option 3 (9 votes) Please note that a club’s failure to attend the
