LADIES WINTER LEAGUE 2010
RULES
1. A team will consist of two couples.
2. Each team captain to arrange their five (or 6) home matches and
return the fixture list to the Secretary by the date stated. Matches to be
played evenings or weekends by home teams arrangements. (The week is arranged
in fixture list – day to be arranged by home team captain) Away teams have to
fit in with home team court availability. Once a date has been set this should
not be changed. First named team is the home team.
3. Home team is responsible for providing four new tennis balls per
court. (L.T.A. approved)
4. No club shall have more than 2 teams in any Division
5. Each couple will play two sets against each opposing couple with a
tie-break at 6 games all.
1st round 1 v 2 ;
2nd round 1 v 1. Home team
to change courts at the end of the 1st round.
6. Matches to start at the arranged time. In the case of a team failing
to arrive at the correct time, the 1st set will be forfeited after
10 minutes, two sets after 20 minutes. If one or more players fail to turn up,
the team will forfeit the appropriate points for sets not played (Mark with an
x on the scorecard)
No one arriving more than 45 minutes after the scheduled start may take
part in the match
Matches must start no later than 7-00PM
7. Arranged matches may ONLY be postponed on account of bad weather, and
in such cases will be re-arranged at a mutually convenient date. Matches
abandoned due to bad weather must be played in their entirety.
8. SCORING 1 point for each set

* The league result will go
on points
* If two or more teams
involved in Promotion/Relegation finish level on points then matches won,
rubbers won, sets won and games won in that order shall decide. If all these
are equal the teams concerned will play off.
* The home team must send the
result card to the Secretary within 48 hours of the match.
9. No player in any one season may:-
* Play for more than one club
* Play more than twice
against any opposing team
* Play in a
Division after 3 appearances in a higher division
* Exceed their match quota as
defined as 10 matches or the number of matches in the Division most
frequently played in
* Penalty points will be
awarded for any infringement of the rules
10. Disputes – Every attempt should be made to come to an amicable
decision but if problems persist each team should present their case in writing
to the Winter League Ladies Secretary.
11. Any team who is unable to complete their matches by 31st
March due to postponements for bad weather should contact the League Secretary
for advice.
12. If any one team concedes more that 10 points in any one season that
team will be relegated.
13.The League Secretary reserves the right to promote or relegate more
than one team from a division when
necessary to maintain the number of teams in each division
