2007 Rules
Team
captains are asked to adhere to the rules below.
- Format. Each team to consist of two pairs.
- A player is ineligible
to play for more than one Club and one team from that club in the same
event.
- All matches in each
round to be played by the designated date.
- The first named team in
the draw have been assigned the Home fixture.
- It is the
responsibility of the home team to contact the visiting team and offer a
minimum of 3 days and times to play the match within the designated play
by date.
- Home team to provide
two courts per match and a minimum of 2 cans, of 4 new LTA/ITF approved
balls.
- The match format for
the day will be:

Visiting pairs to remain on the same court as their
first match.
- All rubbers to be
decided by best of three sets.
Sets 1 & 2 to be tie break sets. Set 3 to be played as a championship tiebreak i.e. first to
10 points by 2 clear points wins the match.
- If a rubber is not
played then the winning pair is deemed to have won 6-0, 6-0.
- If the match has to be
suspended due to inclement weather, then the match must be played within 7
days. Scores will resume from
those of the suspended matches.
- If a pair retires
during a match then the completed sets and games will count with the
incomplete games to secure a full match score being awarded to the winner.
- The team winning 3
rubbers or more will win the match.
- When the rubber have
tied at 2 all then the following criteria will apply to decide the
winners:
- Team winning highest
number of sets and if still level by;
- Team winning highest
number of games (championship tie-breaks count as both 1 set and 1 game)
and if still a tie then;
- A championship tie –
break will be played between any two players from each team to determine
winner of the match.
- Winning team captains to
complete the Results sheet and post to Romano Gallo, following completion
of the match.
- Winning team will be
notified of their next match.
- If the home captain
fails to arrange the match then the organisers may decide to award the
match to their opposing team.
- A team playing an
illegible player will lose all their rubbers in which the player took
part, with the score 6-0, 6-0.
