YOUNG PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARDS -2008

To all  Match Secretaries , 

These awards , now in their fourth year , are intended to honour young players aged 18 and under who have not only been successful so far as results in league tennis are concerned but who have also shown qualities such as good behavior , sporting attitude and commitment.  

 Nominations are invited from your club.  A maximum of 2 per club , one female and one male. Just let me know in your own words why you believe that the young player(s) you nominate is/are deserving of these awards. Please note that a new rule has been introduced to the effect that no player may win this award more than once. I need to receive your nominations by 8th. Sept. latest.

YOUNG PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARDS

  " The winner of the 2007 award ( Girl ) was ALEX FISHER ( Northampton LTC ) and the winner of the 2007 award ( Boy ) was PHIL JOHNSON ( Rushmere LTC ).

 Congratulations to all the other nominees :- Stephanie Savage ( Rushmere LTC ) , Catherine Thompson ( County LTC ) , Sophie Walker ( Kettering TC ) and Charlie Swallow ( Kettering TC )."


The YOUNG PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARDS were launched in 2005. They are called THE BARRITT TROPHIES , after Chris Barritt who retired as League's Secretary in 2004 and who made a major contribution to the League over many years. There will be two awards, one for a girl and one for a boy. 

The criteria are :-

     It is hoped that these awards will inspire those juniors already playing league tennis and at the same time encourage clubs to create as many opportunities as possible for other junior members to play in their league teams.
